Hey, how are ya?

Me? I’m good. Except for not having a voice. Yeah, that’s especially fun, what with two kids to yell at talk to. I sound like hell, but I’m feeling ok. D was home, but he’s returned to that other place to check on his furry friends. The ones he’s already complaining about and secretly loves having with him. So predictable, that man.

Yesterday was soccer signup and birthday parties from 11:30 onward. Today was groceries and an attempt at a bonfire. Even with gas, I couldn’t get that fucker going. Meh. Just gotta wait until the snow melts some more. Oh, and our taxes are done, right down to filing online. Can’t wait for the moolah to hit our account in a few days!

Instead of having to pay for further tree removal, Hydro will kindly come in & drop our remaining 48 dead pine.  Let’s hope they don’t block my damn driveway.

I should check on dinner.  I’m making it up tonight:  onion, mushroom, red pepper, tomatoes and scallops with 7-grain rice.  And greek seasoning.  Sounds good, smells good.  Will report back on the taste.

The upside of cold.

There are some bonuses to this deep freeze we’re in. No, really. I swear.

1. It barely snows. This is because maintaining temps this low requires zero cloud cover.
2. The roads are bare. I have seen ice shrink away & disappear in these temps. The dry air just sucks the moisture out of everything.
3. You can let your vehicle warm up in the morning, and not one environmentalist is going to yell at you. They’re all inside, staying warm.
4. It’s a great topic of conversation. People love to talk about how cold it is, how cold it was 40 years ago, how cold it might get tonight, and when it’s going to fucking warm up out there.
5. You can look like the abominable snowman - layers of coats, mitts, hats - and nobody cares. As long as your eyes are uncovered for driving, you’re good.
6. It’s a great reason to stay in and cuddle up with a book. Not like a need a reason for that, but still, it’s there.

It might put me in the mood. For Christmas, that is.
